Once we walked with eyes aglow,
In rhythm with a world we know,
A purpose carved, a common quest,
But shadows crept to haunt our rest.
They dangled lights, a mirrored show,
False glitter meant to ebb and flow,
To steal our gaze, to blind our sight,
Until we lost the thread of light.
Screens and noise, a steady hum,
Drown out the truth of what we've become.
We chase the glitter, grasp at dust,
While dreams decay, and hearts grow rust.
And when we tire, worn and thin,
They spread new plagues to pull us in.
Sickness lingers, doubts take hold,
Our fire fades, our courage cold.
In broken bodies, fractured minds,
We leave our higher call behind.
The path to purpose now obscured,
Our souls misled, our hearts unsure.
But buried deep, beneath decay,
A whisper of another way -
If we could cast the veil aside,
We'd find the truth they meant to hide.
For purpose waits in stillness found,
Beyond the noise, beneath the ground.
And when we heel, and silence reigns,
Our hearts might beat in truth again.
